Sometimes, even the right kind of weekly therapy isn’t enough to create the momentum needed for meaningful change. When symptoms are severe, progress has stalled, or daily life feels on hold, a higher “dose” of therapy can provide the breakthrough needed to get unstuck.
At CBTTexas™, our OCD and Anxiety Intensives are designed for individuals who need more structure, more repetition, and more real-world practice than traditional outpatient treatment can provide. We offer a focused, short-term course of treatment with multiple and/or longer sessions each week, grounded in gold-standard approaches like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE).
We believe the most effective treatment combines expert-level psychoeducation, so you understand the condition, the conceptualization, and the rationale behind treatment, alongside practice and action. You won’t just learn what’s happening, you’ll learn how to respond differently in the moment, weaken the cycle, and rebuild your life around what matters most.
Our intensives are especially helpful when OCD and anxiety overlap with other concerns, including eating disorders, perfectionism, panic, and longstanding patterns of avoidance. Treatment is individualized, collaborative, and deeply practical, so progress isn’t just something you understand in session, but something you can feel in daily life.
Intensives can serve different purposes depending on the individual:
Our OCD and Anxiety Intensives help clients increase tolerance of anxiety and uncertainty, face avoided situations, and reduce reliance on compulsions and safety behaviors. Rather than spending months or even years simply “talking about anxiety” or trying to pinpoint exactly where it came from, we focus on what is maintaining symptoms right now, and what you can do, starting today, to address it effectively.
Treatment is highly individualized and may include a combination of structured psychoeducation, in-session and community-based exposures, caregiver coaching, and collaboration with schools or other providers when needed to support lasting progress. While we treat all subtypes of OCD and the full spectrum of anxiety disorders, our team is also particularly well-suited to support families when anxiety or OCD interferes with eating, such as fears of choking or vomiting, sensory sensitivity, or fears relate to food or eating that contribute to concerning eating behaviors and weight loss. Each intensive includes clear targets, repeated real-world practice, and between-session assignments so progress translates into daily life, not just the therapy room.
